The turbine bearing shell is an important component of the bearings in the turbine. Its main function is to support the rotor, ensure its smooth rotation, and reduce wear. There are various types of bearing shells, including flat sliding bearing shells, spherical sliding bearing shells, rolling bearing shells, cantilever bearing shells, and gas dynamic pressure bearing shells

Bearing shells are usually made of wear-resistant materials such as bronze and anti friction alloys, and have a semi-circular cylindrical shape resembling a tile. Its main function is to bear the force exerted by the journal, maintain the stability of the oil film, and reduce friction losses. Bearing pads are divided into radial pads and thrust pads. Radial pads support the rotor and rotating parts, while thrust pads undertake axial positioning and thrust functions.
